1. What is Clear Focus One Way Vision film made of and how does it work?
Most Clear Focus One Way Vision films are made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) with up to 50% of the film micro perforated to achieve the desired image resolution and one-way visibility. Some Clear Focus One Way Vision films are made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which is recyclable and contains no PVC. The black (non-imaged) side of the film through which people see maximizes its transparency. Lighting is the final ingredient: For optimum effect, lighting on the graphics side must be brighter than on the non-imaged adhesive side.
> New media space
Clear Focus One Way Vision film creates new, innovative media space without obstructing the view. It also creates new business and advertising opportunities that are not available with conventional opaque signage.
> Security/safety
The film can be used on the windows of emergency, utility and delivery vehicles, banks and other financial institutions, airports – on virtually any glass door or window where visibility is important for safety and security.
> Heat and glare control
Perforated One Way Vision film reduces heat and glare from the sun, making it ideal for residential and commercial buildings, retail stores, museums and art galleries, show rooms etc.
The films with the Universal Liner (AutoVue, EconoVue, PromoVue, OneVue, GrafixVue) are suitable in solvent, UV-cure and latex inkjet printers.
The films with the SL Liner (AutoVue SL, BannerVue SL, ClassicVue SL, ExitVue SL, PromoVue SL) are suitable in eco/solvent and latex inkjet printers.
SunSecure, EconoLam and CurvaLam are not printable.
PrintLam is suitable for solvent, UV-cure and latex inkjet printers.
Yes, there are special considerations. They are listed in our General Instructions document (Support).
Graphics printed on perforated window films tend to look less vibrant than those printed on solid vinyl because up to 50% of the window vinyl is missing due to the perforation process.
Given the wide array of inks, printers and other variables involved in printing, we strongly recommend performing a test prior to actual production. This applies to both printing graphics on our perforated window film products and applying an overlaminate to the printed graphics.
Exterior-mount (also called “black/white”) film attaches to the outside of the glass. With exterior-mount film, the image is printed in the desired colour sequence directly onto the white layer of the film. Vehicle window graphics, e.g., are printed on exterior-mount film.
Interior-mount film, attaches to the interior surface of the glass. Window graphics for retail stores are sometimes printed on interior-mount film to prevent vandalism and to minimize weathering.
In order to select the best film for purpose, please refer to Product Guide (Products Tab) and individual data sheets.
It depends on desired life span, as well as whether the graphics will be subjected to weathering, including rain. The main reasons for laminating perforated window graphics are:
1) to protect against UV, weathering, vandalism, dirt/dust etc. and increase the lifespan of the graphics;
2) to add gloss to enhance the graphics’ appearance; and
3) to maintain visibility through the film by preventing the holes from filling with water when it rains.
If it is laminated, it is easier to clean.
Using a few simple tools and following some basic rules, One Way Vision window graphics are easy to apply and remove, allowing media to be changed as often as desired. For graphics that are larger than A1 in size (approximately one square metre), we recommend to engage the services of a professional installer or sign maker. For installations higher than 2m from the ground or access from the footpath, you may need a permit from the local council.
Clear Focus One Way Vision can be sourced, often by the metre, from reputable signage suppliers. Please refer to Distributors tab for recommended stockist.

Wild FX Signature and Print transforms glass with one way vision graphics which cannot be seen from the other side. The graphics are used for advertising, branding or to achieve decorative effects. They also provide privacy and solar control benefits to people inside buildings and vehicles without blocking their view outside.
The effect is most commonly achieved by applying a self-adhesive window film to the glass.
The film contains areas of printed graphic (a print pattern) as well as unprinted see-through areas covering up to 50% of the film. When looking at the side with graphics, the eye is drawn to the printed colours because they reflect lighter than passes through the see-through areas (provided the lighting on the outside is brighter than the inside).
The secret behind the one-way vision effect is ensuring the printed graphics are obscured or hidden from the other side of the glass. This is best achieved by having a black “backing” which covers exactly all the printed areas on the film without blocking the see-through (unprinted) areas.
When looking through the reverse side of the film, the view coming through the film is dominant because the black layer absorbs light and is less apparent to the eye.
