1. What's the application rate of Urea 46-0-0 fertilizer on an everyday lawn?

As a general (albeit not scientific) rule of thumb, the formula for determining the application rate for nitrogen, divide 100 by the percentage of nitrogen in the compound and apply the result to 1,000 sq.ft.

For Urea, which contains 46% nitrogen, the formula would be 100/46 = 2.17 lb. per 1000 sq.ft. Therefore, depending on the quality of your soil we recommend 2-3 pounds per 1000 sq.ft.

Note: Urea 46-0-0 (46% Nitrogen) is a very concentrated form of Nitrogen, you need to be really careful and not over do it otherwise you will burn your lawn.

Also, keep in mind to fertilize your lawn when it's not too hot outside and away from direct sunlight. We recommend fertilizing it late in the afternoon and please water it thoroughly afterward.

2. Can Urea be dissolved and applied as a foliar application?

No, I don't recommend using Urea as a foliar application.

Urea is a very concentrated form of Nitrogen fertilizer (46%) and by spraying the leaves you could very easily burn your plants especially during the day or when it's hot outside.

If you really want to use this as a foliar application then I would recommend diluting it a lot (maybe 1/2 tsp per gallon of water or maybe even less).

3. Can I use Urea 46-0-0 in my hydroponic system?

Yes, Greenway Biotech's Urea is very pure (+99.9%) and 100% water soluble so it is very suitable for hydroponics systems.

However, since Urea is the most concentrated form of Nitrogen fertilizer (46% Nitrogen) you need to be very careful with it and not over feed your plants.

Over feeding plants with Nitrogen could burn the plants very easily.
