Classification and directory adjustment of occupational diseases soliciting public opinions
The draft for the classification and catalogue of occupational diseases is now open for public consultation! On October 17th, in order to further strengthen the protection of workers' occupational health, the National Health Commission, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and the All China Federation of Trade Unions adjusted the "Classification and Catalogue of Occupational Diseases" jointly issued by the former National Health and Family Planning Commission, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the former State Administration of Work Safety, and the All China Federation of Trade Unions in 2013 in accordance with the principle of "gradual progress, steady progress, and filling in the gaps", and formed the "Classification and Catalogue of Occupational Diseases (Draft for Comments)", which was publicly solicited for opinions from the society. Among them, the "Classification and Catalogue of Occupational Diseases (Draft for Comments)" will expand the current 10 categories of 132 to 12 categories of 135, and plan to add two new classifications: occupational musculoskeletal disorders and occupational mental and behavioral disorders. The newly added diseases also draw more attention from the whole society to work-related diseases. For example, in daily work, workers engaged in heavy physical labor, white-collar workers who use computers and mice while sitting for a long time, drivers, as well as various groups of people such as dentists, interventional surgeons, etc., should pay attention to the fact that poor working posture can cause musculoskeletal diseases. With the release of this draft for soliciting opinions, as attention to key populations increases, disease awareness and diagnosis and treatment levels improve, more and more diagnostic and treatment needs will be given attention.
